Worldwide, solar system installation is increasingly prevalent because of the initiative to join the green movement and preserve our Mother Earth. Many establishments and households are more conscious on how to use their energy efficiently and how to reduce their carbon footprint.

Since our Mother Earth has many natural resources, alternative energy resources are everywhere. It is just up to us how to use and maintain these resources to produce sustainable energy. Let’s take a look at the different alternative energy sources that we can utilize to make our world a cleaner and greener place to live in.

Biomass Energy

One of the most used alternative energy sources in the world is the biomass energy. Biomass refers to the fuel developed from various organic materials (wood or animal manure) in order to produced biomass power. Wood and other forest residues, such as branches and tree stump are some of the largest sources of biomass energy. Among all the types of alternative energy sources, biomass is considered as the most abundant since waste residues will always exist. Moreover, sustain-ably grown biomass can produce up to four times the global electricity needed by 2050.

Geothermal Energy

The thermal heat that can be found underneath the surface of the Earth (commonly in a hot springs and magma conduits) is a source of a renewable and sustainable energy called geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is commonly used in power stations and a source of hot water for households in appropriate areas.

Hydrogen Energy

Since water is about 800 times heavier, it is capable in producing a huge amount of energy. Hydroelectric power, small hydro systems, and run-of-the-river hydroelectricity are some of the forms in producing water energy. In 2015, 16% of the world’s total electricity was generated through hydropower.

Solar Energy

Did you know that every second, the sun can produce enough energy to sustain the Earth’s needs for 500,000 years? That is why it is efficient to utilize the sun in producing sustainable electricity.

Solar energy is the light and heat that comes from the sun, which is obtained through the use of solar panels. Amorphous and hybrid are some of the types of solar panels that will cater to different preferences. Identifying the right solar panel for you will enable you to make the most out of it. Moreover, determining the amount of energy your home needs every month will help you choose the right solar panel with regards to a better and greener environment.

Wind Energy

Wind energy is a clean and non-polluting source of electricity that uses a wind turbine to convert wind’s kinetic energy into electrical power. In addition, wind turbines should be positioned in places with higher wind resources, such as offshore and farm to maximize its potential in producing electricity. Moreover, wind technology can provide up to 9% of the global electricity by 2030.

Climate change is one of the current issues that should be resolve right away – for the betterment of a greener world. Good thing, several technology advancements in biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, solar, and wind power show great and endless possibilities to obtain affordable and sustainable energy sources, however, there is still plenty of development to be done. Utilizing these alternative energy sources now is a big step towards the greener world.
